Hold on there's an element of truth in Boris' kettle logic

We don’t tend to recommend following celebrity “top tips” on saving on your heating bills as they are often well-meaning although rarely well thought through!

We’ve recently had the former MP Edwina Currie leaving MoneySavingExpert Martin Lewis dumbfounded live on air with her top tip to stick tin foil behind the radiators and before that there was also an intervention by the (now former) Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.

It seems his mathematical logic around buying a new kettle wasn’t exactly everyone’s cup of tea but believe it or not, Boris was actually onto something here, kind of…

That is because basically, ALL electrical appliances are made up of tiny electrical elements.

These do indeed wear down over time so if you DO buy a brand-new kettle it will boil really quickly.

Whereas in two years time, it will take much longer to boil. So yes, Boris, the thinking was on the boil here, although perhaps it was not delivered in the most sympathetic of tones.

Of course, the same holds for electric radiators - they will become less efficient in time.

That is why we created a service package where we ensure your radiator is as 100% efficient today, as the day when you bought it from us and it left our factory here in Leeds.

So please bear this in mind when you are looking at energy consumption in your property.

It is not often that we agree with politicians but dare we say there was an “element:” of truth this time!
