'Nobody ever says I want to sell radiators when they grow up...'
Scott Conor certainly did not, as he joined the Armed Forces at the young age of seventeen. He wanted adventure, travel, and physical challenge. Scott said the Army provided him with great educational and career benefits, and he certainly had adventures and challenges working in the UK. He was also stationed in Germany, Bosnia, and Beirut, and fought in the Gulf War.

1997 – 2012 The Early Days
After leaving the army, Scott ventured into the oil industry, and this is where he first started to explore the wonders of heating. Over the years, Scott’s fascination grew into the intricacies of heat conduction, and from this interest, he worked in several heating companies across the UK. But Scott had a dream. He knew he could create a smarter way of conserving energy whilst heating a room. So, when Scott told his wife that he wanted to leave his career and set up his own heating company, his wife’s reaction dramatically altered the course of both their lives.
"If you're going to go and set up your own company, then let’s do it together!"

2013 – 2016 Northern Heating and Conservatory Heating Company
At the beginning, it was literally two people with one van, importing German electric radiators from Elkotherm, and selling them in the north of the UK. After initial success, they found there was a need for heaters specifically for conservatories. Due to this, their second company was born: The Conservatory Heating Company. Also, a relationship was formed with Clearview Home View Improvements, a nationwide heating installer.

2016 Dreams turned into Reality
Due to importing from Germany, they had one challenge; the turnaround from sale to installation. The minimum was 6-8 weeks, which Scott found was long time for someone to wait for their heating. Fiona, his wife, was never a fan of waiting, or for the company to be small. So this is when they started searching for an investor, and found Knaresborough Investments. Which is backed by Steve Parkin, who is the Chairman and Founder of Clipper Logistics PLC.
Their dreams soon became a reality when they moved into their very first building and took on one member of staff. Find out more here.

2017 The Re-Brand
In 2017, with a team of five and a growing vision, we knew it was time to evolve. We weren’t just serving the North anymore, we were ready to lead nationwide. But first, we had to rebuild trust in the electric heating industry.
The industry was full of confusion. Customers didn’t know who or what to believe and often felt pressured into poor decisions. So, we changed our name to Trust Electric Heating, because earning trust meant everything to us.
We understood people’s biggest fears: pressure sales, wasting money, poor performance, and overpaying. Our mission became clear: deliver better products, better service, and honest advice.
The rebrand wasn’t just a new name. It was a promise to restore confidence in electric heating.

2018 Launching the NEOS
With a team of 10, Trust Electric Heating grew, with the goal of becoming a UK-recognised manufacturer and installer.
Scott’s patent was approved, and his vision became reality: the launch of the NEOS electric radiator. Named after his son Neo, meaning ‘new’, ‘modified’, and ‘revived’ in Greek. The NEOS marked a breakthrough in electric heating.
In 2018, we stopped importing German radiators. TheNEOS was smarter, sleeker, built from recyclable materials, and British-made. Customers loved the design, the colour options, and most of all, the drop in heating bills.
With demand rising, we expanded. Our head office stayed put, and we had a factory in Huddersfield where our metal was pressed and painted, keeping it proudly Yorkshire.

2019 A Year of Innovation and Insight
In 2019, we focused on solving real-world heating problems. During customer visits, Scott saw how many elderly users struggled with complex controls, so we created the ProtoStat: a simple, UK-made thermostat built for clarity and ease.
Later that year, we launched our Bluetooth student thermostat, designed to cut energy waste in student housing with smart, occupancy-based control. The Radiator Buddy followed, which was a hit with landlords wanting to lower bills without sacrificing comfort.
We also partnered with the University of Huddersfield through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership, giving us access to lab testing and academic expertise to enhance product safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
It was a momentous year of smart products and strategic progress.

2020 New apprentices & the year that gave us true perspective
2020 brought fresh energy to the business, with new staff and a growing team of apprentices. Every addition strengthened the Trust family and pushed our momentum forward.
But no one could have predicted the disruption of Covid. While many businesses paused, we adapted. Remote working strengthened our focus, helping us grow in resilience and clarity.
That shift gave Scott the space to develop CAVE, a smart thermostat designed for the Confined, Adults, Vulnerable, and Elderly. Backed by intelligent tech and a drive to support those most in need, the idea won an Innovate UK grant.
It was a year of great challenge, but also one of invention, resilience, and purposeful innovation.

2021 Research & Development
Following the success of our integrated thermostat, CAVE, we were awarded a second Innovate UK grant. This time, to develop it into a standalone product that could work with any electric radiator.
CAVE supports a niche but vital group: the Confined, Adults, Vulnerable, and Elderly. It offers three smart features:
• Remote programming of heaters in every room
• A traffic light system that flags high energy use
• Direct support from our team to help reduce bills through tailored reprogramming
This was a major step forward in our journey into smart energy control. Despite the ongoing challenges of Covid, it was a year marked by innovation, impact, and another leap towards inclusive heating.

2022 What a story!
In 2022, our R&D partnership with the University of Huddersfield deepened, securing access to their Smart House for NEOS testing. Our in-house doctor, Ruhail Gulzar, began exploring heat loss and real-world running costs, pushing our product data even further.
We also expanded into Scotland and Ireland to meet growing demand, and welcomed new team members: Cameron (Marketing Apprentice), Kim (Telesales), Sofia (Installations), and Neil, who lead our Business customer division.
It was also a year of big wins. We took home ‘Best Marketing Campaign’ at a major awards night hosted by Jimmy Carr, and were named ‘Best Domestic Heating Solutions Provider’ of 2022.
A year of growth, talent, and market-shaping innovation.

2023 A Year of Growth & Innovation
In 2023, Trust entered another transformative phase, more than doubling our team from 17 to 37, and expanding our warehouse to keep pace with rapid growth.
We launched the upgraded Student Smart App Thermostat, picked up multiple awards, and made our debut at key industry exhibitions across the UK.
Our research partnership with the University of Huddersfield went global, with an invitation to present at the ICMIAM 2023 conference in Australia, spotlighting the performance of the NEOS.
We also introduced the ZEBRA Solution, a ground-breaking initiative aimed at helping UK homeowners achieve full energy independence through renewables.
A landmark year of growth, recognition, and shaping the future of sustainable heating.

2024 Another year of growth & success
After 2023’s immense growth, the past 12 months took things even further. We grew to a team of 51, and expanded into another unit to scale up manufacturing for our ever-growing customer base.
Since celebrating our 10th birthday in April, we’ve become the first electric radiator company in the Made in Yorkshire club, and proudly introduced our mascot, Keith the Cosy Cat.
Keith made his debut on our first TV advert, which was quickly followed by media appearances from our CEO, Fiona, on Channel 4 News, TalkTV, and BBC Radio Leeds.
We also headed stateside, joining Innovate UK’s ‘Clean Heat New York’ programme, one of just six UK companies shaping New York’s low-carbon future.

Today, Trust Electric Heating continues their vision that made everything possible in 2013.
